7-Eleven’s “Bring Your Own Cup” Slurpee Deal Is Back This Weekend

It’s that time of year again where you get to see if your 7-Eleven will let you fill up a kiddie pool with Slurpee.   7-Eleven is running its “Bring Your Own Cup” Slurpee deal tomorrow and Saturday.  You can bring in ANY container and fill it up for $1.50.   Now, they SAY the container has to have a diameter under 10 inches, but we’ve seen plenty of cases where people got away with filling up things that were much, much larger.   (Foodbeast)

A Walmart Shopper Puts a Runaway Deer in an MMA Headlock

We don’t know this guy’s name, but he’s our “Badass of the Day.”  A bunch of people at a Walmart in central Minnesota freaked out on Tuesday when a deer wandered in and started running around the store.  (It happened in Wadena, about 150 miles northwest of Minneapolis.)   Luckily no one was hurt though, because a guy who looks like he’s in his early 40’s TOOK CHARGE, managed to wrestle the deer to the ground, and put it in an MMA-style HEADLOCK.   Someone posted a photo on Facebook where they’re both lying on a big bag of dog

Emojis With Different Hair Styles and Colors Are Coming Soon

You can find an emoji with hair like yours if you have blonde, brown, or black straight hair.  Otherwise, you’re screwed, but that’s about to change.  The group that regulates the official set of emojis announced that they’re strongly considering adding emojis with curly hair, white hair, red hair, and a bald head to their 2018 set.   Assuming those are approved, they should show up on your phone by the middle of next year.   But before then, we’re still due for a big burst of new emojis this summer, including zombies, a giraffe, a sandwich, and lots of

Believe It or Not, You Can Speak Your Dog’s Language

Who knew you were bilingual?  According to a new study, believe it or not, you speak DOG.  Or, at least, you can understand dog.  Researchers in Hungary found that people have a remarkable ability to figure out what their dog’s different growls mean.   For the study, people listened to audio recordings of dogs growling and barking while they played, guarded their food, or faced a stranger who they thought was threatening.   And people correctly identified what the dog was growling about 63% of the time, which is higher than the level of random chance.   The researchers also

Starbucks Is Testing Ice Cubes Made of Coffee

Well, it’s happened:  Starbucks figured out a way to charge you for ice.   Starbucks just started testing ice cubes made out of COFFEE in 100 of their stores in St. Louis and Baltimore.  If you want them, they cost 80 cents extra.   There’s no guarantee that they’re going to go nationwide, but they seem like free money for Starbucks, so why wouldn’t they?   (ABC News)

Want a Box of “Marshmallow Only” Lucky Charms? Now’s Your Chance

Every kid, or adult, who’s ever eaten Lucky Charms has had the same thought:  Can’t I just have a bowl of the marshmallows without the damn cereal getting in the way?  Well now you can.   General Mills just announced they’re going to be giving away 10,000 BOXES of “Marshmallow Only” Lucky Charms.  To win one, you’ll have to get a box of regular Lucky Charms, find a code inside, and type it in on their website to see if you won.   Or, I guess, you could just buy, like, 20 boxes of Lucky Charms and hire some interns

Rompers For Men Have Arrived

A company just created ROMPERS for men.  If you don’t know what a romper is, it’s a one-piece combo of a shirt and shorts.  They look cute on babies and are a risky fashion choice for women.  For men?  Well, it’s really not a great look.   But a Kickstarter for the man rompers just went live, and they’re calling them RompHIMS.  And at $95 for a Romphim, they’ve already raked in over $130,000.   (Here’s a photo.)     (Buzzfeed)

Chanel Is Selling a Ridiculously Priced $1,325 Boomerang

I’m not in the market right now for a new boomerang, but if I was, this would be about $1,315 more than I would be willing to spend on one.  Because CHANEL just started selling a boomerang that costs $1,325.   It’s part of their new summer product line that includes other comically expensive sporting goods, like $475 tennis balls and a $3,350 beach paddleball set.   But Chanel is getting BLASTED on social media for the boomerang, some people think they’re profiting by appropriating Australian Aboriginal culture, and others just think it’s ridiculous to sell a piece of wood

The First Kid Rescued by an “Amber Alert” Just Went to Prom

“Amber Alerts” about missing kids used to go out over the radio and TV.  Now they also pop up on your phone, and make an annoying sound unless you have it disabled.  But you SHOULDN’T disable it, because those things actually work.   In the last 20 years, almost a THOUSAND KIDS have been found because of Amber Alerts in the U.S. alone.  It’s in all 50 states now, and over 20 other countries use it too.   The first time it worked was in Texas back in 1998.  An eight-week-old girl from Arlington named Rae-Leigh Bradbury got kidnapped by

The Equipment at Your Gym Is Covered in Bacteria

No one wants to sit down in a puddle of someone else’s sweat at the gym, so PLEASE wipe down the equipment after you’re done with it.  But even if you do, there’s still a LOT of bacteria accumulated there.  Researchers recently took samples at three different gyms to see how gross the equipment was.  It turned out almost everything was pretty disgusting, and 70% of the bacteria they found was the kind that can make you sick.   Three things that were absolutely COVERED in bacteria were free weights like dumbbells, the handlebars on exercise bikes, and the handlebars
